CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Department of Parks and Recreation wants to hear from residents about their recreational needs.

The department will be hosting a series of public input sessions, starting next week, to get feedback and ideas concerning current and future needs in four specific parks.

According to a release, these parks have been identified to develop framework plans exploring potential opportunities and uses for them.

These framework plans will be part of the overall Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which will guide the city for the next decade regarding strategic direction and vision to meet public needs.

The master plan also helps the department remain the primary steward of significant natural, cultural and historic resources in the area.

The first input session will be focused on Court Square and Market Street Park. It will take place July 15 during the Charlottesville City Council meeting.

Then on July 18, a session focused on Tonsler Park will be held at the Tonsler Recreation Center.

The third session on Washington Park will be July 23 at the Carver Recreation Center.

All three of these sessions will begin at 6 p.m.
