CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (CBS19 News)--The Charlottesville Opera is back at the Ting Pavilion to put on what they call FestivALL Arts for All.

“Well I think that the FestivAll’s theme is one that we wholeheartedly embrace, the arts are for everybody the arts are for us all,” says Jessica Harris

The Ting Pavilion hosted the second-ever FestivALL Arts for All. The festivities were opened to the public and gave people opportunities to explore their creative side. They say that whether you're a long-time arts enthusiast or just looking for a fun night out, that there's something for everyone at this family-friendly event.

“So the festival is open to everyone, it’s called Arts for All FestivALL because we want everyone to come and experience classical music and the arts,” says the founder, Leanne Clement.

“I think there’s something for everyone here whether that’s music or theater or dance or visual art. The arts really are a way to express ourselves and come together,” says Harris.

The event was filled with families and friends looking to explore the different types of art available to them in Charlottesville. The Paramount Theater, Virginia Theatre Festival, Empowered Players, and more were there to support the community and share their love for the arts.

“Empowered Players is a non-profit that focuses on accessible arts education, so we provide free and accessible theater education for students grades K-12, focused on fostering community and developing theatrical passion,” says Harris.

This event allowed people who weren’t sure what they were interested in to try a little bit of everything without the scary commitment of lessons.

“I would say give it a try, it's about arts exploration come out and see what it feels like to hold a violin in your hands, see what it feels like to dance like a ballerina. Give it a try, you can take a little lesson you don’t have to sign up for the rest of your life but give it a try,” says Clement.

Clement says that she started the event when she first moved to Charlottesville and when she asked the Oratorio Society and the Ballet to join her they did not hesitate.

“I realized how many incredible arts organizations there are here and I just loved how collaborative they all were and I thought why don't we highlight how incredible this community is and the arts that are available here,” says Clement.

She also shares that FestivALL is made possible by The Smith Vicars Family Foundation and that this project is supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
