CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Fourth of July festivities kick off this weekend in the greater Charlottesville area.

First up is Crozet on June 29 with a parade through the Albemarle County community and a fireworks display that is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m.

Also on June 29, the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville is hosting its annual Independence Day 5K raising money for the Benjamin Hair Just Swim for Life Foundation, the Ronald McDonald House, Community Bikes and other area charities that help children.

On June 30, the Lovingston Volunteer Fire Company is hosting a parade.

July 3 will see the Orange County community turn out at Booster Park for the Playin’ in the Park Independence Day Celebration with fireworks at dark.

On the Fourth of July itself, several places will be holding events, including Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello’s annual Independence Day and Naturalization Ceremony, James Monroe’s Highland, Greene County’s Red, White, Blue ‘n Greene in Stanardsville, Boar’s Head Resort's festivities, the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department’s celebration, and the Lake Monticello Owner’s Association.

Fireworks will be held at Boar’s Head, in Greene, Scottsville and Lake Monticello.

There is also a fireworks display at Oak Ridge Estate in Nelson County, which is being put on by the Lovingston Volunteer Fire Company.

Carter Mountain Orchard is holding a celebration this year, but there will be no fireworks for it.

The Cove at Lake Anna is holding a celebration on July 5 with fireworks.

The Lake of the Woods Association is holding its celebration, including a parade, car show and fireworks on July 6.

Wintergreen Resort's July Jubilee is also on July 6.
