ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County Police Department says two of its officers were assaulted by a person who was arrested for driving under the influence.

According to police, the officers were at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when the assault occurred.

The suspect has been identified as 38-year-old Jasmin C. White of Charlottesville.

ACPD reports that when the officers arrived at the jail and opened the door to take White inside, she kicked one of the officers and then hit the other in the head with the handcuffs.

The officer who was hit in the head had to be taken to the University of Virginia Health System with non-life-threatening injuries.

White has been charged with felony malicious wounding, two counts of felony assault of a law enforcement officer, DUI second offense in 10 years, refusal of a breath test, driving on a revoked license, two counts of obstruction of justice, and vandalism.

She is being held without bond.
